Regular grave tending
A grave that is visited regularly never has the chance to look forgotten. Across Coventry and Warwickshire: choose how often, and I will do the rest.
What a regular visit looks like
I arrive, photograph the grave as I find it and set to work: the headstone washed by hand, weeds and leaves cleared, old flowers and pots taken away, the grass clipped and edged and fresh flowers placed. Then a second photograph, and both come to you the same day.
Between visits I keep an eye on the seasons. After a storm or a hot spell I will tell you if the grave needs an extra visit rather than wait for the next one on the calendar.
Every visit
- Wash of the headstone, removing surface dirt and bird droppings
- Windblown debris and rubbish removed
- Wilted flowers removed, pots emptied and cleaned
- Grass clipped around the grave, stone and memorial area
- Fresh flowers included at every visit
- Before and after photographs emailed to a person of your choosing
Choose a rhythm that suits the grave
Prices are per visit and include fresh flowers.
Monthly visits
12 a year, £35 to £45 a visit. The grave is looked after all year round and never gets the chance to become overgrown.
Bi-monthly visits
6 a year, £45 to £55 a visit. A good balance for a grave that is easy to keep, with fresh flowers six times a year.
Quarterly visits
4 a year, from £55 a visit. One visit a season: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Six-monthly or annual visit
£60 to £70 a visit. A thorough clean and tidy once or twice a year, often timed for an anniversary or before a family visit.
Which plan is right?
Monthly suits a lawn grave, a grave with a lot of planting, or a family who want it to look cared for whenever anyone passes.
Every two months is the plan most families choose: enough to stay on top of the weeds and the weather, with fresh flowers six times a year.
Quarterly gives one visit a season and works well for a grave with a kerb set or gravel that holds itself together between visits.
Annual is a thorough once-a-year clean, often timed for an anniversary or before relatives visit from away.
Not sure? Book a single visit first and we will decide together once I have seen the grave.
Questions about visits
What happens on a visit?
I wash the headstone by hand, clear weeds, leaves and anything that has blown onto the plot, take away wilted flowers and old pots, clip the grass around the grave and place fresh flowers. Then I take photographs and send them to you, so you can see the grave exactly as I left it.
Do I need to be there?
No. Most of the families I work for live too far away to visit as often as they would like, and some live abroad. You tell me where the grave is, I do the rest and the photographs come to you the same day.
How do you find the grave?
Send me the cemetery and, if you have it, the section and plot number from the deed or the cemetery office. A photograph of the headstone helps too. If you are not sure, tell me what you do know and I will find it.
Can you visit on a particular date?
Yes. Birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas are the days families ask for most. Tell me the date when you book and I will arrange the visit for it, or for the day before so everything is ready.
Can you bring a particular flower?
Often, yes. Tell me what they loved and I will do my best, but it depends on the season and on what the florists have that week. If it cannot be found I will choose something close and tell you.
Start with the cemetery and the name
I will find the grave, visit, and send you a price and the first photographs.
